Google has rolled out a redesigned homepage for Google Drive, aptly named “Home,” aiming to provide users with a more efficient and streamlined file-finding experience.
This update emphasizes simplicity and speed, aiming to facilitate the location of essential files and seamless collaboration. Here are the key features of the update:
Personalized Suggestions: The use of machine learning algorithms for quick starts offers personalized file and folder suggestions based on recent activities and calendar events.
Filter Chips: File searches are expedited with filter chips, enabling users to refine results by type, people, modified date, or location.
Modern Design: Embracing a sleeker design in line with Google Material Design 3 guidelines, enhancing navigation efficiency throughout Google Drive.
To access the new home page, users can visit drive.google.com. By default, users will land on ‘Home,’ with the option to switch to ‘My Drive’ available in the banner.
Users who prefer the previous version can opt out of the new feature by going to My Drive and selecting “Change to My Drive” in the banner, setting the default page to My Drive.
Updates to Google Drive Scanner on Android & iOS:
Google has also introduced enhancements to the Drive scanner on Android devices, offering features such as automatic capture, a camera viewfinder for precise positioning, import options from the camera roll, and a faster scan initiation button.
These improvements extend to iOS devices, allowing users to efficiently scan, organize, crop, and receive title suggestions based on machine learning.

The new Google Drive Home page is accessible for all Google Workspace customers and personal Google Accounts, with the rollout commencing on November 28, 2023.
Updates to the Google Drive scanner on Android & iOS devices began on the same date and are available to all Google Workspace and personal Google Account users.
