OPPO A2x
OPPO has unveiled its latest budget-friendly 5G smartphone, the A2x, in China, hot on the heels of the A2 Pro’s recent debut. This device sports a 6.56-inch 90Hz LCD screen and is powered by the Dimensity 6020 SoC, which is essentially a rebranded Dimensity 700, making it a budget-friendly but capable choice.
With 8GB of RAM and an additional 8GB of virtual RAM, the A2x ensures smooth performance for various tasks, from running apps to multitasking. This combination offers a seamless user experience, even when handling demanding apps and multitasking.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the A2x’s 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, which deliver decent shots for a budget device. Security and convenience are also addressed with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, making unlocking the device quick and secure.
To enhance its aesthetics, the A2x features a textured back panel that adds a touch of style to its design. But beyond looks, OPPO has focused on long-term usability. The phone is equipped with a robust 5000mAh battery, engineered to maintain over 80% battery health even after around four years of use or roughly 1,200 charging cycles.
The display is another highlight, with the A2x offering a 6.56-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. This results in a smoother and more responsive touch experience, which is particularly useful for gamers and those who enjoy fluid visuals.
Under the hood, the Dimensity 6020 SoC powers the A2x, using a 7nm process and offering a combination of two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores. Additionally, it’s equipped with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, ensuring a decent gaming performance.
The A2x provides two memory options: 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM paired with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It runs on the Android 13 operating system with the ColorOS 13.1 skin, promising a feature-rich user experience.
In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and more. It also boasts dust and water resistance with an IP54 rating, making it suitable for various environments. For those who prefer wired audio, the phone retains the 3.5mm audio jack while charging and data transfer are handled via the USB Type-C port.
The OPPO A2x is available in three attractive colors: Midnight Black, Muguang Gold, and Feishuang Purple. The base model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at 1099 yuan (roughly USD 152 or Rs. 12,575), while the 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage variant costs 1399 yuan (approximately USD 194 or Rs. 16,005). This device is now available in China, offering a compelling option for budget-conscious consumers seeking a cost-effective smartphone with excellent features.
